This presentation will highlight new trends in buying behaviors and innovative new Mobile Learning products that are specific to the Healthcare field, but relevant to other markets. In turn, advances in Collaboration / Social Networking and in wireless body area networks (BAN) are also fueling innovation of new types of Mobile Learning products in the healthcare sector.
The healthcare segment was one of the early adopters of Mobile Learning and the market is now quite mature. The use of Mobile Learning is heavily concentrated in the clinical healthcare professions and products are often highly specialized for this demographic.
The US healthcare segment employs almost 13 million people and 6.5 million are clinical healthcare professionals, defined as those employees that provide direct medical care to patients. At least 28% of them, or 1.8 million people, are using personal digital assistants (PDAs), dedicated devices, and smartphones as part of their daily workflow.

Virtually all of the new healthcare professionals entering the industry are experienced and dedicated mobile technology users and many were required to use the devices during their schooling. They expect to use the technology in their practice. There is a high degree of innovation occurring in the healthcare segment with new sophisticated products hitting the market at a rapid pace.
