Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 14, 2008 -- Ambient Insight is proud to announce that leading healthcare and life sciences psychometrician Dr. Richard Rovinelli has joined their Board of Advisors. Dr. Rovinelli is an industry recognized designer of patient simulators, certification technologies, and virtual assessment environments. He specializes in technologies that assess the clinical performance of physicians.
Dr. Rovinelli will serve as Ambient Insight's primary advisor on issues, innovations, and learning technology related to healthcare and life sciences. Dr. Rovinelli has assisted a number of medical specialty boards in the implementation of computer-based testing centers and in the introduction of new, proprietary testing technologies such as the "virtual microscope" and specialized diagnostic media presentation techniques.
"We have worked with Dick before and we are very happy to be working with him again," says Ambient Insight’s Chief Research Officer, Sam S. Adkins. "I first worked with him in 1996 when he designed sophisticated expert systems for us at the Microsoft Online Institute. He is a very gifted psychometrician and one of the most creative and technically-astute innovators I know."
Dr. Rovinelli received his Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis in psychometrics from the University of Massachusetts in 1976. He has focused his career on the use of computers to address the administrative, analytical, reporting, and delivery tasks of testing. Dr. Rovinelli has served as a consultant to corporate, governmental, educational, and medical organizations in the areas of item banking, test scoring, and computer-based test presentation.

Dr. Rovinelli's current focus is on the use of Web-based applications for the implementation and delivery of components for the assessment of resident performance. In addition, he is also working on implementing virtual 3D environments for the healthcare assessment industry.
