Dr. Rovinelli serves as Ambient Insight's primary advisor on issues and reports related to healthcare and life sciences.
Dr. Rovinelli received his Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis in psychometrics from the University of Massachusetts in 1976. He has focused his career on the use of computers to address the administrative, analytical, reporting and delivery tasks of testing.
Dr. Rovinelli has served as a consultant to corporate, governmental, educational, and medical organizations in the areas of item banking, test scoring, and computer-based test presentation. His interests have been primarily in the use of "item/case generative methodologies" for the assessment of the clinical performance of physicians.
Dr. Rovinelli has assisted a number of medical specialty boards in the implementation of computer-based testing centers and in the introduction of new, proprietary testing technologies such as the "virtual microscope" and specialized media presentation techniques. Dr. Rovinelli's current focus is on the use of web-based applications for the implementation and delivery of components for the assessment of resident performance. In addition, he is currently working on virtual environments in the assessment arena.
